The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association, and any fees charged for such a course do not represent income to the Association.

The completely redesigned American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is based on new science evidence from the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC and a new teaching methodology. The goal of the PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

PALS is a 2-year Certification

PALS Provider Certification is a 14-hour course completed over 2 classroom days

PALS Re-Certification is a 7-hour course completed over 1 classroom day.

Intended Audience: Healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies. For students seeking first-time or renewal credentialed PALS training.
